A family in Jackson is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Adrianna Cooper, who was killed early Wednesday morning after a drive-by shooting sent gunfire into a home where she was inside with loved ones.
According to the Jackson Police Department, officers from Precinct 2 responded around 1:55 a.m. to a residence in the 200 block of South Prentiss Street after reports of multiple shots fired.
Investigators said an unidentified vehicle drove past the home and fired several rounds into the residence. Inside the home at the time were Adrianna and several family members, including children. During the shooting, Adrianna was struck by at least one bullet.
Despite efforts to save her, Adrianna later died from her injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting, though police said the incident left family members and the community shaken. Witnesses told investigators they did not know why the home was targeted, and detectives continue working to determine what led to the deadly attack.
Adrianna’s death has left those who knew her grieving a life taken in a sudden act of violence. Family and friends are now facing the unimaginable pain of losing a young woman whose future was cut short.
