A Toledo family is grieving an unimaginable loss after a suspected accidental carbon monoxide poisoning incident claimed the lives of four people, including three young children, while another child remains in critical condition.
Family members have identified the victims as Stone “Stoner” Coleman, 2; Storm “Butterfly” Coleman, 3; Liberty “Peach” Coleman, 4; and Candace “Big Mama/Kandie” McAllister, 36, their grandmother. A fourth child, Legacy “Ace” Coleman, 4, Liberty’s twin brother, remains in critical condition as he continues fighting for his life.
According to the Toledo Police Department, officers responded around 11:10 a.m. on July 15 to the 300 block of Phillips Avenue near Detroit Avenue after receiving a report of unconscious individuals inside a vehicle.
Authorities said the adult in the vehicle had contacted the children’s father to report a flat tire. When the father arrived, he discovered all five individuals unconscious inside the vehicle. Emergency crews responded and began efforts to provide assistance.
Despite lifesaving efforts, four members of the family sadly died. Legacy Coleman remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The heartbreaking incident has left the Toledo community and loved ones mourning the devastating loss of a grandmother and three young children. Family members are remembering Stone, Storm, and Liberty for the joy they brought into the lives of those around them, while holding onto hope and prayers for Legacy’s recovery.
As investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the suspected carbon monoxide exposure, loved ones are left facing an unimaginable tragedy that has taken away cherished family members far too soon.
