IJAMSVILLE, Md. — A tragic single-vehicle crash in Ijamsville, Maryland, has claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and personnel from the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services responded at approximately 2:52 a.m. on July 21, 2026, to a fatal crash in the 11400 block of Windsor Road.
A preliminary investigation found that a 1995 Honda Accord, operated by a 19-year-old man from Frederick, was traveling along the two-lane roadway when it left the right side of the road and struck a culvert. Authorities said excessive speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
Three people were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision. The driver was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. One passenger declined medical treatment at the scene.
The second passenger was identified as Kaylee Hottle, 18, of Kyle, Texas. She was transported from the crash scene to an area trauma center, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information related to the investigation to contact investigators.
