Prentiss Deshun Hollaway, 40, Killed in Shooting at Gaffney Apartment Complex

A Wednesday night shooting in Gaffney has claimed the life of Prentiss Deshun Hollaway, 40, of Union, according to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler.

Authorities said the shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Connecticut Village Apartments, located at 409 East Junior High Road.

According to Coroner Fowler, Hollaway and another man were reportedly involved in an argument in the apartment complex parking lot when gunfire erupted. During the confrontation, Hollaway was struck multiple times by gunfire.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Hollaway was pronounced dead at the location.

Coroner Fowler said an autopsy will be performed as part of the ongoing death investigation.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, including what led to the argument and the events that unfolded before the gunfire. Authorities have not released additional information regarding a suspect or any possible charges at this time.
