In Loving Memory of Robert Jackson

Family, friends, and members of the Macon community are mourning the tragic and unexpected loss of 36-year-old Robert Jackson, who lost his life following a devastating crash Monday morning on Bass Road in Macon.

According to authorities, the fatal accident happened near Snows Memorial Chapel in the 1400 block of Bass Road when Jackson was driving a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck. Investigators said he was traveling along the roadway when he reportedly attempted to avoid colliding with a red sedan that had stopped while waiting to turn onto Westchester Drive.

In an effort to avoid the vehicle, Jackson reportedly swerved into the opposite lane of traffic, where his truck collided head-on with an eastbound Peterbilt 358 commercial truck. The violent impact caused the utility truck to overturn, leaving severe damage at the scene.

Emergency responders quickly arrived and worked to assist those involved, but despite all efforts, Robert Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver of the Peterbilt truck, a 62-year-old man, suffered injuries and was treated by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital. Officials say he remains in stable condition as the investigation continues.
