Manslaughter Charge Filed Following Toronto Street Homicide

A homicide investigation is underway in Winnipeg following a fatal incident early Saturday morning that left a 21-year-old man dead and a woman in custody, according to authorities.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded just after 3:00 a.m. on June 13, 2026, to a report of a serious incident at a residence in the 700 block of Toronto Street.

When Central and North District General Patrol officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation and confirmed the identity of the deceased as 21-year-old Trencent Francois, a member of the Nelson House First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.

Following the incident, an adult female was taken into custody at the scene. Police identified her as 20-year-old Precious Rayne Walker, who has been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody.

Investigators have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the incident and continue to examine evidence and interview witnesses as part of the ongoing case.

Police say the investigation remains active as detectives work to establish a full timeline of events leading up to the death.
