Hunter Hull, Centralia Student, Ejected in Deadly Boone County Crash

A 17-year-old Centralia High School student and basketball player has died following a crash in Boone County on Wednesday night at approximately 9:45 p.m.

According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teen failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling on Highway 124 at Gano Chance Road, leading to a fatal two-vehicle collision.

Authorities said a 28-year-old Columbia woman was driving an SUV in the area when she crossed the center line while attempting to avoid the teen’s vehicle. The SUV struck the rear of the car, causing it to overturn multiple times and ejecting the driver.

The victim was identified by the Centralia Panthers basketball program as Hunter Hull, a junior at Centralia High School, a member of the varsity boys’ basketball team, and a participant on a traveling basketball team. The program said Hull was a valued part of their basketball family, noting that his loss is deeply felt by teammates, coaches, classmates, and friends.

Emergency responders transported Hull to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Keilin Dorman of Centralia, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital for treatment. Dorman plays travel basketball with Hull on the JC Elite team and also attended Hallsville High School. He remained hospitalized following the crash.

The driver of the SUV was also taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
