ALTOONA, Wis. — Authorities have identified the victim who died in a house fire that destroyed a residence in Altoona earlier this week as Kevin Stanton.
According to the Eau Claire County District Attorney’s Office, Kevin Stanton was the father of Tyler Stanton, who is currently being held in the Eau Claire County Jail.
Emergency crews responded Monday morning to a residence at 1020 Skyview Drive in Altoona, where firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. During their response, crews discovered Kevin Stanton deceased inside the residence.
The tragic loss has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning the death of a beloved father, relative, and friend. Loved ones continue to grieve as they seek answers surrounding the circumstances that led to the fatal fire.
The District Attorney’s Office said it is continuing to review the case and anticipates filing formal charges in a criminal complaint on Friday.
Tyler Stanton had been scheduled to appear in court on Thursday; however, the hearing was postponed. He remains in custody at the Eau Claire County Jail.
