Montgomery Man Dies in Suspected Electrocution Incident; Investigation Ongoing in Daviess County

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. — A 29-year-old Montgomery man has died following a suspected electrocution incident at a residence in Montgomery, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 11:29 p.m., Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call reporting that a male had been found and was believed to be deceased. Deputies responded to the scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Authorities said that, based on preliminary findings, it is believed that Lamar N. Wagler, 29, of Montgomery, Indiana, was working on electrical wiring at a residence when he was electrocuted.

Officials also confirmed that Wagler’s family contacted the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office after the incident was discovered.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Wagler was pronounced deceased. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death, authorities said.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Daviess-Martin County REMC, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office as part of the initial response and investigation.

At this time, no foul play is suspected, and officials are treating the case as an accidental death pending the results of the autopsy and further review.

The sudden loss of Wagler has left family members and the Montgomery community mourning as they come to terms with the tragedy. Loved ones are remembering him and supporting one another during this difficult time.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released if they become available.
