A woman died following a fatal hit-and-run crash in Hartford in the early morning hours of Saturday.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. in the area of Ledyard Street, south of Wawarme Avenue. Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. When first responders arrived at the scene, the victim was found in the roadway suffering from severe injuries. She was later pronounced deceased despite emergency medical efforts.
The victim was identified as Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez, 31.
Investigators said the driver involved fled the scene immediately after the collision, traveling southbound. The vehicle has not yet been identified, and no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
