Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide after a 16-year-old boy was found dead in a parking lot on Wellington Avenue.
On the morning of June 25, 2026, Winnipeg Police Service West District General Patrol officers responded to a wellbeing call in the 1700 block of Wellington Avenue that led to a tragic discovery.
Upon arrival, officers located the body of a male youth in a parking lot. The victim was found with significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Bruno Delmar Young, a member of Bloodvein River First Nation who had been living in Winnipeg. His death has deeply impacted family, friends, and the wider community.
The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation. As detectives worked throughout the day, they made a significant development later that evening.
Two 17-year-old suspects, a male and a female, were arrested at a business in the 600 block of King Edward Street. Both have been charged with Second Degree Murder and remain in custody as the investigation continues.
