A man has died following a tragic incident involving a pickup truck driven by a teenager early Saturday morning in Russell County, Kansas, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Aiden Moyer of Ellsworth, who sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle near 195th Street and Lincoln at approximately 12:15 a.m.
Investigators reported that Moyer was riding in a pickup truck when his hat fell out of the window. The vehicle came to a stop, and Moyer exited to retrieve the item. At that time, the 16-year-old driver allegedly placed the truck in reverse, causing it to roll backward and strike Moyer.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Moyer later died from the injuries he sustained in the incident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this time regarding potential charges or contributing factors.
Authorities say the incident remains under review.
