Family, friends, and members of the Ripley County, Indiana community are mourning the heartbreaking and sudden loss of Jordan Walters, 33, and Sierra Walters, 33, who were both tragically killed in a devastating head-on collision Friday evening in Dearborn County.
According to the Indiana State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. on State Road 350. Investigators said a 2006 Ford F-150, driven by 46-year-old Steven Witte of Moores Hill, Indiana, was traveling westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it crossed the centerline and entered the path of an eastbound vehicle.
The pickup truck struck a 2017 GMC Terrain driven by Jordan Walters of Milan, Indiana, who was traveling eastbound with his wife, Sierra Walters, as his passenger. The impact was described as violent and sudden, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged and coming to rest off the roadway following the collision.
Authorities confirmed that Jordan Walters and Sierra Walters both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office. Their unexpected passing has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who knew them, as family, friends, and neighbors struggle to comprehend the loss of two lives taken far too soon.
The Walters’ two small children were also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Miraculously surviving the impact, they were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. Loved ones are now holding onto hope for their recovery while grieving the devastating loss of their parents.
Those who knew Jordan and Sierra describe them as a deeply loving couple whose lives revolved around their children and family. They are remembered for their kindness, their warmth, and the quiet strength they carried through everyday life. The driver of the pickup truck, Steven Witte, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Cincinnati-area hospital for treatment. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and toxicology results are pending as authorities work to determine all factors that contributed to the crash.
