According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:55 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the Dollar General located at 211 S. White Street in Whitakers. What began as a heated altercation outside the store quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire, turning a normal morning into a devastating tragedy.
As deputies arrived and began investigating the scene, they discovered Wilbert Silver III suffering from gunshot wounds near the intersection of Nash and White Streets, close to where the initial incident had taken place.
