The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed after being struck by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20 East near the Pines Road exit.
Officials identified the victim as Cade Thielen, 26, of New Iberia. The fatal crash happened on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m.
According to preliminary information, Thielen entered traffic on I-20 East near the Pines Road exit and was struck by an 18-wheeler. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Thielen was pronounced deceased.
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office said Thielen was positively identified through fingerprint comparison. An autopsy has been ordered as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
