In Loving Memory of Nakota S. Ludlow

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Broken Bow, Oklahoma, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Nakota S. Ludlow, 19, whose life ended following a tragic single-vehicle crash on Thursday morning, July 17, 2026, in LeFlore County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Old Indian Highway, north of Oklahoma State Highway 144. Preliminary investigators said the vehicle was traveling northbound when it left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Nakota, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Despite the response of emergency personnel, he could not be saved.

The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile from Broken Bow, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity because of the individual’s age.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators have not released additional information regarding the cause of the collision, and details concerning speed, weather conditions, or other contributing factors remain under investigation.

Trooper Tim Baker is leading the investigation, and officials noted that the findings remain preliminary and could change as additional evidence is gathered.
