A man was killed and a juvenile was critically injured Monday night following a serious crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle in Madison County.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Matthew Doud, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 9:49 p.m. to the intersection of County Road 100 East and County Road 1300 North after receiving reports of a serious collision.
When deputies arrived, they found a 2016 Dodge Journey and a 2024 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle involved in the crash.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that the Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound when it entered the intersection and reportedly failed to yield the right of way. At the same time, the motorcycle was traveling northbound, and the two vehicles collided.
The impact killed Matthew Doud, who was operating the motorcycle. A juvenile passenger riding with him was also injured and transported to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of significant injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Journey was not injured and remained at the scene, where officials said the driver cooperated with investigators.
