In Loving Memory of Thomas George

According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Alcide Dominique Drive after receiving reports of a shooting. Authorities said Thomas suffered apparent gunshot wounds and fled the immediate area before collapsing in the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue.

Officers immediately rendered first aid before Thomas was transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel, he later died from his injuries.

During the investigation, detectives determined that the shooting occurred during a child custody exchange. Authorities later arrested Drailun Anthony, 23, of Lafayette, in connection with the case. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with one count of second-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
