Two People Found Dead in Milledgeville Home Identified; Investigation Indicates Murder-Suicide

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Authorities have identified two people who were found dead inside a residence on North Richmond Street in Milledgeville on Friday morning.

According to Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord, officers responded to a call at approximately 10:15 a.m. regarding two deceased individuals at a home in the 100 block of North Richmond Street.

In an update released Friday afternoon, the Milledgeville Police Department identified the victims as 33-year-old Jajuan Taylor and 41-year-old Briuna Harty, who was pregnant. Investigators determined that Taylor fatally shot Harty before taking his own life.

Police believe the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. Friday. Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, but officials stated they are not searching for any suspects and emphasized that there is no threat to the public.

The bodies of both individuals will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Macon, where autopsies will be conducted.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the shooting. The Baldwin County Coroner’s Office also declined to provide further information.

The investigation remains ongoing.
