Family, friends, and members of the Concord community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jamar Louis Barnett Mishoe, 36, who was killed in a tragic wrong-way crash early Sunday morning in Lincoln County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on June 21, 2026, at approximately 12:04 a.m. on N.C. 16 near Sifford Road. Investigators said a 2017 Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway when it struck a 2021 Mercedes van head-on.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire and become fully engulfed in flames. Despite rapid emergency response, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the driver of the Mercedes van as Jamar Louis Barnett Mishoe of Concord. The driver of the Ram pickup, Alejandro Sierra Gutierrez of Vale, also died in the crash.

Troopers said preliminary findings suggest that impairment may have been a contributing factor in the collision, though the investigation remains ongoing.
