Imbler, Oregon Man Identified as Victim in Fatal Huntsville Motorcycle Crash

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Oregon was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in southeast Huntsville, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. near the nature preserve area along Cecil Ashburn Drive.

Investigators said the motorcycle was involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Authorities confirmed the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Troy Russell Tyrrell Jr., 50, of Imbler, Oregon.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services for treatment. Their condition has not been released.

Cecil Ashburn Drive is a major arterial roadway in southeast Huntsville known for its winding terrain and heavy commuter traffic, connecting residential neighborhoods with commercial areas and access routes to Monte Sano Mountain and nearby nature preserve lands.

Huntsville, located in Madison County, is one of Alabama’s largest cities and a regional hub for aerospace, defense, and technology industries.

Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
