Two people were killed early Friday morning in a tragic two-vehicle crash in McAllen, according to authorities.
The crash happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the 6400 block of South McColl Road, the McAllen Police Department said.
Police identified the victims as Eber Sanchez, 22, of Edinburg, and Cesar Eduardo Martinez Jr., 41.
Investigators said Sanchez was driving a Chevrolet Silverado, while Martinez was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Tahoe when the two vehicles collided under circumstances that remain unclear.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported and worked to provide assistance, but both drivers were pronounced deceased due to the severity of their injuries.
Authorities said the exact cause of the collision has not yet been determined. Investigators continue to examine evidence from the scene, including vehicle positions and roadway conditions, to understand what led to the fatal impact.
The sudden loss of both drivers has left families and loved ones in mourning as the investigation remains ongoing.
