In Loving Memory of Avante Weldon

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Marion Township community mourn the tragic and sudden loss of Avante Weldon, 16, who passed away following a devastating crash on Likens-Chapel Road on Saturday night.

According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 10:42 p.m. on Likens-Chapel Road near Fairground Road in Marion Township, Ohio. Emergency responders arrived at the scene following reports of a serious two-vehicle crash.

Investigators said a parked Mercedes-Benz was struck from behind by a Ford Ranger driven by Timothy Best, 66, of Marion. At the time of the impact, Avante was standing behind the parked vehicle and suffered critical injuries as a result of the crash.

He was transported by Marion City Fire and EMS to Marion General Hospital, where he tragically passed away despite all life-saving efforts.

The crash also left several others injured, including the occupants of the Mercedes-Benz and the driver of the Ford Ranger, all of whom sustained minor injuries.

As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, Avante’s family is left to grieve an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss. His passing has deeply affected those who knew him and the wider community.

Avante is remembered as a young life taken far too soon, leaving behind cherished memories, broken hearts, and a lasting impact on those around him. His name now lives on in love, sorrow, and remembrance.
