With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Uniondale community are mourning the tragic loss of Gary R. Zickafoose, 61, who died following a single-vehicle crash in rural Roanoke, Indiana, on Thursday morning, July 9, 2026.

According to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Mayne Road and County Road 500 East in rural Roanoke. Authorities said Gary was driving a truck northbound on County Road 500 East when the vehicle failed to properly brake for a stop sign.

Investigators reported that the truck lost control, spun out of control, struck a utility box, and overturned before coming to rest in a steep ditch. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Gary was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The Huntington County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that Gary died from multiple blunt impact injuries and ruled his manner of death accidental.
