In Loving Memory of Landrie Harris and McKenna Young

Family, friends, and members of the Kenton, Tennessee community are mourning the heartbreaking and devastating loss of 1-year-old Landrie Harris and 11-year-old McKenna Young, after the two young children were found dead in what authorities are investigating as an apparent double homicide in Obion County.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, agents were called in on Saturday at the request of 27th Judicial District Attorney General Colin Johnson to assist the Kenton Police Department and the Obion County Sheriff’s Office with this devastating and deeply painful investigation.

Authorities say officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Jan Lynn Street in Kenton, where they were met with a scene of unimaginable heartbreak, discovering Landrie Harris, age 1, and McKenna Young, age 11, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, both precious children were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Inside the home, investigators also found the children’s mother suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to Regional One Health in Memphis, where she remains in critical condition as medical teams continue to fight for her life with hope and determination.

At this time, authorities have not made any arrests and have not identified a suspect. Investigators have confirmed that the case remains active, ongoing, and extremely sensitive as they continue working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind this horrific tragedy.

Kenton Mayor Danny Jowers described the scene as a “horrific event,” saying first responders were confronted with something that will stay with them forever. Local officials have since called in the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation due to the seriousness and complexity of the case.

The tragedy has left the entire Kenton community devastated, heartbroken, and united in grief, as families, neighbors, and loved ones struggle to comprehend the loss of two innocent children whose lives were full of potential, joy, innocence, and love.

The community continues to hold onto prayers, compassion, and support for the surviving mother, for grieving relatives, and for everyone affected by this unimaginable loss.
