Family, friends, and members of the Denham Springs community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Hunter Roe, 19, who died following a tragic head-on crash Thursday evening in Livingston Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 5:15 p.m. on LA 447 near Dot Lee Drive.
Investigators said Roe was traveling north on LA 447 in a 2008 Ford Mustang when he attempted to pass a Ford F-150 in a no-passing zone. Police said the Mustang crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Ford F-250.
Roe was taken to a local hospital after the crash, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ford F-250 was properly restrained and was not injured.
Authorities said impairment is not suspected in the crash. Routine toxicology samples were submitted as part of the investigation, and officials continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
