Family, friends, and members of the Bonaire community are grieving the heartbreaking loss of Anthony Asbell, 35, whose life ended following a medical emergency while he was housed at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center in Georgia on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
Anthony’s unexpected passing has left a deep void among those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered through the memories he created, the connections he made, and the moments he shared with his family, friends, and loved ones.
According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony suffered a medical emergency at approximately 2:45 p.m. while being housed at the detention center. Despite efforts to provide medical assistance, he died as a result of the emergency.
Following his death, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was notified and requested to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause and manner of death.
As the investigation continues, additional questions regarding the case are being directed to the GBI’s Perry Office.
Anthony’s passing has brought heartbreak to his family, friends, and members of the Bonaire community. Those who knew him are holding onto the memories they shared and offering support to one another during this difficult time.
The Houston County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Anthony’s family and said the agency will continue cooperating fully with the GBI throughout the investigation.
