An Alliance woman has died following a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning at the intersection of U.S. 62 and Harmont Avenue NE in Canton, Ohio.
According to the Canton Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 10:27 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving two vehicles.
Investigators said a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 when it collided with a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage that was turning south onto Harmont Avenue from westbound U.S. 62.
The impact forced both vehicles into the southeast corner of the intersection, causing the Chevrolet Silverado to overturn. Police said the driver of the Mitsubishi Mirage, identified as 30-year-old Erin Stevens of Alliance, had to be removed from the vehicle due to the severity of the crash.
Both drivers were transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was treated and released, while Stevens was pronounced dead.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is investigating the crash. Authorities said speed is not believed to have been a factor, and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
Anyone with additional information related to the crash is encouraged to contact the Canton Police Department as the investigation continues.
