Justin Daniel Brudvig, 26, Dies in Drowning on Willamette River in Lane County, Oregon

Family, friends, and members of the Oregon City community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Justin Daniel Brudvig, 26, whose life ended following a tragic drowning incident on the Willamette River in Lane County, Oregon.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Oakridge Fire personnel responded around 3:20 p.m. on July 18 to a report of a drowning near the Black Canyon Campground on the Willamette River.

Authorities said a caller reported that his son had been pulled from the water and was not breathing. People at the scene immediately began performing CPR, and those life-saving efforts continued until firefighters arrived.

Despite the rescue efforts of bystanders and emergency responders, Justin did not survive.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Justin Daniel Brudvig of Oregon City. Investigators determined that Brudvig had been paddleboarding in the river without a lifejacket when the incident occurred.

Following the tragedy, officials reminded the public about the importance of water safety while enjoying Lane County’s waterways. Authorities encouraged everyone to wear a properly fitting lifejacket, remain sober around water, avoid entering the water alone, and use only breakaway tethers when attached to a watercraft.

Justin’s unexpected passing has left his family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken as they grieve a life taken far too soon. Those who knew him are remembering the moments they shared with him and the memories that will continue to live on.
