NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured Wednesday night in Nebraska City.
According to the Nebraska City Police Department, officers and Nebraska City Fire & Rescue were dispatched at approximately 10:31 p.m. on June 10, 2026, to the 1100 block of North 4th Street following reports of a shooting involving two individuals.
When first responders arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the victim as Will Neeman, 45, of Nebraska City.
A second victim, a 28-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported by Nebraska City EMS to CHI Health St. Mary’s before being airlifted to a trauma center in Omaha for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.
According to a police press release, the incident was initially reported as an accidental shooting. Authorities said a second shot was reportedly fired after the 28-year-old man went to the back of the residence.
Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and officials have not released additional details regarding what led to the incident.
The Nebraska City Police Department confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
