With heavy hearts, family members, friends, and members of the Tuscaloosa community are mourning the tragic loss of George L. Porter III, 19, and Latayia Necole Furr Prewitt, 22, whose lives were cut short in a devastating vehicle crash early Monday morning in Tuscaloosa County.
The heartbreaking tragedy has left loved ones grieving the sudden loss of two young lives filled with promise, dreams, and potential. Family and friends are now facing the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye far too soon while holding tightly to the memories they shared with George and Latayia.
According to Alabama State Troopers, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 22 on Crescent Ridge Road Northeast near 9th Street Northeast, about one mile north of Tuscaloosa. Authorities reported that George and Latayia were passengers in a 2013 Nissan Maxima when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a guy wire, became airborne, and overturned.
Both George Porter III and Latayia Furr Prewitt suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was injured and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.
