North Patchogue Man Identified as Victim in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash

NORTH PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — A 45-year-old East Patchogue man has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday night in North Patchogue, according to Suffolk County police.

Authorities said the collision happened at approximately 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and Buckley Road.

Investigators reported that Meredith Hill, 79, of East Patchogue, was driving southbound on Waverly Avenue and attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Buckley Road when her vehicle collided with a northbound 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Michael Aulivola, 55, of Holtsville.

Police said the passenger in Hill’s vehicle, identified as Hilton Spokony, 45, of East Patchogue, suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hill was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while Aulivola was also transported to the same facility for treatment of minor injuries.

Following the crash, Suffolk County police secured the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections as part of the ongoing review.

Officials have not yet determined what factors contributed to the crash, and the investigation remains active under the Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit.

Waverly Avenue and Buckley Road are heavily traveled roadways in the Patchogue area, serving both residential and commercial traffic across central Suffolk County.
