Caleb Oswald, 6, and Abigail Oswald, 7, Remembered After Tragic Lake Geneva Boating Accident

A family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of two young siblings, Caleb Oswald, 6, and Abigail Oswald, 7, who died along with another child after a boat capsized during severe weather on Lake Geneva over the Fourth of July weekend.

The children were among three who lost their lives in the tragic boating accident on July 3 near Big Foot Beach State Park. Authorities said a rapidly moving storm created dangerous conditions on the lake, causing the vessel to overturn.

Seven people were rescued after the boat capsized, but search crews later located the sunken boat in approximately 32 feet of water. The three missing children were found inside the vessel and were pronounced dead.

Caleb and Abigail’s family described the siblings as more than just brother and sister — they were best friends who brought joy, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone around them.

“They filled our home with laughter, music, hugs, and endless love,” the family shared through a fundraiser created in their memory. They said Caleb and Abigail were deeply loved by their family, friends, teachers, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing them.

The family is asking those who wish to show support to donate to the fundraiser instead of sending flowers or gifts. Donations will be given to a children’s charity in honor of Caleb and Abigail, creating a lasting legacy from the lives they shared.

The loss of the young siblings has left family, friends, classmates, and the community heartbroken. Their memories will continue to live on through the people who loved them and the kindness inspired by their lives.

Officials with Community Unit School District 200 previously expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, offering support as the community continues to grieve the loss of the children.

As loved ones mourn this unimaginable loss, Caleb and Abigail will be remembered for the happiness they brought to others, the love they shared, and the lasting impact they made in their short but meaningful lives.

May Caleb Oswald and Abigail Oswald rest in peace, and may their family find comfort, strength, and support during this devastating time.
