With deep sadness, family, friends, and members of the Gillette community are mourning the loss of Jordan Callender, 32, who died following a tragic two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2026.
Jordan’s unexpected death has left his loved ones heartbroken as they come to terms with the loss of someone who meant so much to them. His family and friends are remembering the moments they shared with him, the memories he created, and the impact he had on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
The crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Garner Lake Road in Gillette, Wyoming, in a construction zone. According to authorities, Jordan was driving a 2021 GMC Sierra southbound on Garner Lake Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a red vacuum truck traveling northbound.
Investigators said the reason Jordan crossed into the opposite lane remains unknown. Deputy Tommie Verhasselt said evidence from the scene indicated that Jordan’s vehicle did not appear to have braking applied before the collision, while brake marks from the vacuum truck were also found.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene following the crash. Police officers were the first to reach Jordan and immediately began providing life-saving measures. Firefighters later worked to remove him from the pickup truck, and he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, Jordan died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem.
The driver of the vacuum truck, a 50-year-old man, and a 39-year-old passenger were evaluated at the scene and released.
The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Wyoming Department of Transportation, continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
