According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the fatal crash happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. near 266 County Street after authorities received reports of a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and discovered a 2001 Honda Accord that had sustained heavy damage after striking a telephone pole. Investigators determined that Selina Mendez was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders immediately rushed to provide aid following the collision. Selina was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injuries she suffered in the crash. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
A 23-year-old female passenger was also inside the vehicle during the crash. The passenger survived the collision and was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Authorities said her injuries were considered minor.
