Two Fresno Residents Killed After Car Crashes Into Disabled Semi-Truck on Highway 152 in Madera County

A heartbreaking crash on Highway 152 in Madera County, California, has claimed the lives of two Fresno residents, leaving family, friends, and the community grieving the loss of Samantha Xiongnhiathao, 50, and Gisselle Diaz, 17.

The two were killed early Saturday morning, July 18, 2026, after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into the back of a disabled semi-truck on eastbound Highway 152, east of Road 14 1/2.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 32-year-old Fresno man was driving a Freightliner semi-truck at approximately 15 mph in the No. 2 lane while experiencing engine problems. Investigators said Samantha Xiongnhiathao was behind the wheel of a black Honda Clarity with Gisselle Diaz as a passenger when the Honda struck the rear of the semi-truck.

Following the collision, the Honda became lodged underneath the trailer. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but both Samantha and Gisselle were pronounced deceased.

The CHP continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash as authorities work to determine why the vehicle collided with the disabled truck.

The sudden loss of Samantha and Gisselle has left their loved ones devastated. They are being remembered for the lives they lived, the memories they created, and the people who loved them.
