Birmingham Woman Phylicia Cherea Wilson Killed in Early-Morning Crash on Interstate 20

A Birmingham woman has died following a tragic single-vehicle crash early Friday morning on Interstate 20.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Phylicia Cherea Wilson, 38, who was pronounced dead after the crash.

According to authorities, the wreck happened at approximately 2:03 a.m. on Interstate 20 westbound at the Interstate 59 south interchange. Investigators said Wilson was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle involved in the single-vehicle collision.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Wilson was pronounced deceased at 2:27 a.m. Additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash have not been released.

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the incident as authorities continue working to determine what led to the fatal crash.
